After all the famous incidence of mass shootings and violence, the chorus rises and accuses individuals of having serious mental illnesses of being present danger Its containment is necessary (easy laws of commitment, longer hospitals hold).
The all-charging appeal of condemning the issue of society’s violence against this group of people is not difficult to understand. Schizophrenia and related disorders are nightmares. Most people don’t meet people affected Psychosis (Or they think so). So, Those People can easily cast in the role of a boogieman.
Our politicians use this to have a great effect on persuading us. “[South American countries]fear to empty their prisons and their mental facilities in the United States and help with the scale they want, immigration restrictions, and prevent gun restrictions.
Society regularly portrays these individuals as dangerous, violent, unpredictable and scary. Diagnostic terms are thrown as shaming in playgrounds and discussions: “You are playing a psycho” or “You are delusional.”
The first problem is effectively a problem. That’s not true. In my future books, I live well with mental illnesswe see this myth that mentally ill individuals are dangerous. Data show that they are likely victims of violence and are more likely to be harmed by firearms.
A mentally ill individual teeth Involving violence, they have the same risk factors as people without psychosis: extreme negative emotions, drug misuse, and social factors (poverty, etc.) live in high lives –crime community, early abuse, unemployment). In fact, statistically removing these misuse medications from the data eliminates the relationship between psychosis and violence.
In reality, many of the experiences that make up mental illness (hearing a voice, fearing being threatened) are extremely frightening. The usual first human response to a horrifying experience is to retreat, avoid, or attack. Many of these individuals are trying to live and overcome their lives.
So it may not be 100% correct about these people being dangerous. Statistics Ph.D.but who is it? Really Have you been hurt?
Good question. There are great lines in musicals, In the forest“Note that what you say (people) will listen.”
Many people are harmed because they hear what is being said:
No one knows who these individuals are and where they are, but every time violence occurs, the news is often searching for Any Confusing after receiving mental health treatment in the history of the perpetrator that With a serious mental illness.
Many individuals with mental illness recover and disappear into society. You may work next to such an individual and never know it.
Don’t ignore our true concerns: violence.
