I came across a quote in a Facebook I often. Phrases, “You’ve chosen it with all your might.” It is attributed to Devon Brough’s poem. DevonBrough provides examples of choosing “hard” which leads to positive outcomes for “hard” that brings suffering.
As a writer who is constantly seeking inspiration, someone with severe mental illness that has endured many challenges, and someone who lives in turbulent times, this quote resonated with me because it seeks to be intentional about the choices we make in life.
Life always presents us with challenges. We can choose to avoid them or face them. Rather than trying to avoid the difficulties in our lives, it is possible to play an active role in difficult situations where we choose to engage.
If you decide to choose a difficult path (or), then decide that it is intentional.
Why should we choose our hard? Typically, more difficult choices will have the greatest benefits in the long run. the goal. If you want to be a CEO, you may not be able to reach it without having to pursue your MBA and studying hard. As psychologist Harry Cohen writes,Our intentions give us invaluable purpose and control. “
It seems as if each of our intentions are set for our unique North Stars that guide us and help us navigate challenging times. Staying true to our North Star will help us stay on track to overcome the adversity we may face along the way.
For example, my intention now is to perform well in my recently promoted position. Before I was promoted, on the weekend of July 4th, I was hospitalized with what is known as high cardiomyopathy caused by low potassium and extreme dehydration. My North Star is to secure its top management I think I can trust. It requires me to continue to show up for work and not require further medical admission. My challenge is to make wise choices to prevent healthy eating and drinking from potassium and other electrolytes from staying in the normal range and not being dehydrated.
According to Decision Lab “Based on the relationship between intentionality and attribution, it is clear that intention plays an important role in our behavioral decisions, and indeed, intent is a necessary prerequisite. decision makinghelps to define problems and guide searches for alternatives. Therefore, it can be argued that an intentional plan of action consists of more than a decision-making. Before you make a decision, you need to choose what to decide. ”
We constantly choose our hardest throughout our lives. Another more challenging situation pops up, just as one situation appears to be resolved. That’s how life works. Sometimes there are overlapping and situations at the same time, and you may feel overwhelmed. Don’t forget to breathe and go back to the basics of setting your intentions. Once we have established an intention that aligns with our values and goals, we are on track.
