Beyond Anti-Intelligence: Where AGI might live

2QuadV2.png

When I first introduced it Anti-Intelligent Ideasthat hit my nerves. People realized they were worried about today artificial intelligence (AI) and especially large-scale language models (LLMS). Simply put, we are beginning to realize that they are fluent but empty. They can produce languages that feel clever, but in many ways it is a vapid representation of our human reality

This paradox resonated as it exposed a deeper question of how AI imitation is thought without actually thinking. It keeps an eye on its output, but it lacks the architecture of the mind. Visuals are always useful, so I created a cognitive map showing how LLM and how humans do Cognition It’s basically different. The Grid placed the two in a quadrant where they could claim to be “anti-tesikree”, and supported my first idea as “anti-tesikree.”Intelligence. ”

However, this raised another important question. What happens in the other two empty quadrants? And, more specifically, if today’s AI occupy this anti-intelligence zone, is there any other cognition possible? What does a wider landscape of “thinking” look like when pushed into its curious upper right quadrant? To answer that, you need a more complete cognitive map.

Cognitive Map of Thought

Let’s start with two axes where cognition can be hypothetically plotted.

  • Self-continuity: This takes us from one extreme stateless memoryless system to an autobiographical, stable Identity On the other hand.
  • Shape of thought: From symbolic and linear reasoning to high-dimensional distribution Pattern recognition.

Beyond these axes, four different quadrants of cognition are created. The two are familiar. We already know where humans and LLM live based on previous articles. However, the other two complete the photographs, showing what lies before and beyond the intelligence. Let’s take a closer look.

1. Human cognition – Symbolic continuity (top left)

This is the quadrant we know best. It’s us ourselves. Humans symbolically rational, construct stories, anchors think Memory and identity. And that’s a good place to start.

We think about stories, causes, effects, values that last over time. Our cognition is rich in meaning and intention, but there are boundaries. We are slower than machines and have limited size of what we can hold in working memory.

2. LLMS – Gradual pattern (lower right)

LLMS lives on the other side. They work in a huge amount, High-dimensional spacedetects and replicates statistical patterns on scales that humans cannot match. But they also have no permanent self, no inner story, no true understanding.

This is the anti-intelligent quadrant. The output feels intelligent, but the underlying mechanism is hollow. Perhaps, as I said before, Vapid. It is a mirror of human thoughts that has no meaning.

3. Computer Logic – PRE-Intelligence (bottom left)

Beneath the human is a simpler quadrant. Think of an old-fashioned calculator.

They perform instructions accurately, but cannot be learned, adapted or generalized. Here, there is a touch before entering, and it is a pure function without cognition.

4. AGI-Integrated Synthesis (top right)

And there are quadrants we have never reached, but it occupies a lot of us Note.

Here, the machine’s pattern processing power ultimately blends with human capabilities for continuity, memory, and reasoning. This isn’t just LLM. It’s a completely different architecture. And it’s a conceptual framework Artificial general information (AGI).

Scaling alone will not reach AGI

Currently, AI has popular ideas. Continue scaling of LLMS, adding more data, more layers and more parameters to ultimately achieve AGI beyond hidden thresholds. And perhaps “asymptotic intimacy” might do the trick, as it relaxes in line with human cognition. Well, maybe…

Intelligence Essential Reads

Gary Marcus It’s one of The loudest voice that makes this point. Larger models provide better imitation. It does not give the model the sense of self, the grounded world model, or the ability to reason about causes and effects.

Marcus argues that true intelligence requires integration as well as magnitude. And yes, I agree.

  • Pattern learning for perception and flexibility;
  • Symbolic reasoning of causality, logic, and abstraction;
  • Continuity of memory and identity for grounding and self-correction over time.

To move to the upper right quadrant, use a structural shift or Hybrid Neuros – Tumor Structure It combines the best of both worlds. It’s not about increasing the volume of today’s models. It is to build a mind that can be fluidly navigated between distributed pattern processing and structured inference.

True Threshold for AGI

The upper right quadrant is the only quadrant that integrates the best of both human and machinery.

  • Scalable distributed intelligence of AI.
  • Human continuity, abstraction, and grounding.

But that’s not just an extension of what we have now. It’s a categorical change. The mind of this space does not merely copy us. It can evolve beyond us, and we think in ways that we cannot predict or even fully understand.

Therefore, the upper right quadrant is the most attractive and most unsettling. It suggests a kind of perfection of intelligence into a form that overcomes the limitations of both human and machinery. But it also suggests that post-intelligence potential, breathing in. And this leads us to the “heart.” This not only shares our cognitive map, but also draws it perfectly.

Completed cognitive composition space

Looking at the entire 4-quadratic map, a hierarchy appears. And it’s frame and trigger.

  • lower left: Before hospitalization – Honest but functional.
  • Low right: Anti-intelligence – fluent yet hollow.
  • Top left: Human intelligence – rich but boundaries.
  • Top right: AGI – integrated, scalable, perhaps beyond our understanding.

So perhaps the real question is not whether AGI is possible or not. That’s whether we should cross that threshold at all. You need to ask whether the architect in the upper right quadrant will remain partners, or if it will be radically completely different. And this “difference” may be something beyond our understanding, not just augmentation or progression of human cognition.

This quadrant is beyond anti-intelligence and may be inhabited by AGIs…but do we do?
